He
never intends to marry me.

I have been engaged
to a man for 3 years. He has placed vague wedding dates.
Three months ago he set a fixed date.
He even announced it to his family. When I
asked to get things together for the wedding he would say later.
Today was the scheduled wedding date, he never mentioned the
wedding. He acted like he does every day.
I do not believe he
ever intended to marry me or that he ever
intends to marry me. What are your thoughts.

Your last
paragraph says it all and indicates your fears and feelings. 3 years
is a long time for an engagement and you are right to have expected
something to have happened by now. As nothing has happened by now, you
are right to suspect that nothing will.
You need to
examine your relationship with this man and your feelings towards him.
Is he, perhaps, afraid of commitment? Are you perhaps trying to push
him into marriage because you want marriage, when he does not want it?
Are you simply pursuing marriage because you see it as the next stage
in your life?
You do not
mention feelings or emotions between you, only your problems in
getting him to agree to marriage. Examine your feelings. Do you really
love this man? Do you feel he will give you what you want from life ?
Are there any children or offspring involved ?
After 3 years
of engagement you are still insecure in this relationship, then it may
be time to cut your losses but talk to him first ! |
